Event Maturity! At Last!

How many businesses can wait for maturity? In 2023 we will celebrate our 30th anniversary in business. It’s been a roller-coaster ride to say the least. Last February 28th, we held the Black Worship XI Hall of Fame Dinner and Ceremony.

Although we were limited in the capacities we had, the event was sold out one week before the doors were opened.

This is a sign of a mature event. Event planning often times it is about the unknown, does everybody know their role, what is the budget? Who is accountable for what etc. This event provided us with the chance to showcase our abilities and fulfill our responsibilities by assembling a group of talented professionals who we knew had to be a part of this opportunity. We wanted to do something that was different than what has been done in the past, but special for the city. Take a look at the video to get caught up. I’m looking forward to helping many customers with their audio and video needs, be it graphics, live streaming or publishing.

I am not old enough to remember when the original movie “The Blob” came out in 1958. But I was able to see it much later when I was older. Boy was it a scary movie! The crazy thing to me was people heard about it and some even saw it. So why was it a surprise when it attacked them? Like Plato’s Allegory I am here to tell you the self serve blob is coming. From the long implemented self serve gas stations, ATMs, Car Washes. Innovation in hospitality is here! From McDonalds to HEB’s self check out stations and the COVID-19 best practices. As a society we have pivoted like a ballerina within 12 to 16 months. From QR Codes, Google Menus, and Food Deliveries how we engage with past hospitality norms are now a fainting memory.
We believe we are about to enter into the self serve society. As a business consultant we try to implement best business practices for our clients. Like allot of companies COVID-19 blind sided us and forced us to adapt. You can look forward to new developments from Avista Products to help our clients implement new ways to engage with their customers and community outreach.

One Million Plus! Now What!

I am happy to announce we reached One Million views. What a milestone for news announcements and event coverage. It took almost 10 years to get here! As the saying goes women lie, men lie but numbers don’t. For some of us we know a millions views is just another weekend post. But for those of us looking to impact our community it is a real big deal. My goal was to never compete locally but nationally or globally. We are a top 35k producers in the news category for all of youtube (Global – Socialblade). Black Video News Network started out humbly as place to archive videos we were producing. Live streaming events and producing shows were not even an consideration. It just felt like the right thing to do. November of this year we will celebrate 10 years of Black Video News another milestone.
With recent changes in the landscape who knows what the next ten years will look like. The recent announcement of CNN+ leads me to believe established networks will look to organizations like ours to produce, edit and motivate local stories. We are ready! For all of you who have watched us grow Thank You!

Blackbook Eleven

This November we will celebrate 11 years of the Blackbook Directory and Yearbook. Every year is an accomplishment but we are happy to be here after the year of 2020. 2020 is not hard to forget. I believe it was the year Mom and Dad got a divorce! There is no going back! Friends we had for years are no longer friendly, things we use to do we can’t do them any more. It’s a mess! Still in the back of our minds we believe maybe in the future we could be friends again or revisit those locations. From the rumors of a National COVID lockdown, Black Lives Matters to Presidential election results. How do you explains this to future generations? You can’t! All you can do is present the facts. The facts can come back to haunt you as well. One of things I heard frequently during the election was Obama did nothing for Black people! I believe he did what he could. Hopefully some people will remember the Republicans would not let him do certain things to better the country let alone Black people. We will be short on event coverage and self produced events but we plan to gather what we can and present the year that was 2021. As we reach out to this community this year for your advertisements know that is not only going toward the production of the book but a stamp in time that lets the world know you were here. Thanks again for your support but remember this, knowledge alone does not motivate behavior get up and move something.
